“Experience the Power of Solus 4.5: The Ultimate Linux Distribution with Enhanced Features and a Superior Installation Process”

Solus 4.5 is making waves in the world of Linux as it debuts with an impressive array of updates, revolutionizing the original distro with its popular Budgie desktop environment and other innovations. This latest release boasts a new and improved installation experience utilizing the renowned Calamares installer framework. With this upgrade, users can now easily set up Solus in various configurations including a Btrfs root file-system. This is a significant step up from the old installer that the previous Solus 4.4 version had.

But that’s not all, Solus 4.5 also introduces the cutting-edge Pipewire media framework, which replaces the outdated JACK and PulseAudio. This exciting new feature also includes AMD ROCm 5.5 support, providing improved AMD GPU compute capabilities for the platform. While the official ROCm support is limited to major enterprise Linux distributions, it is excellent to see Solus and other distros stepping up to offer open-source ROCm packages, making it more accessible for users.

In addition to these impressive upgrades, Solus 4.5 comes with the latest Linux 6.6.9 LTS kernel for optimal hardware support. The latest open-source graphics drivers are also included with Mesa 23.3.2. Not only that, but the flagship Budgie desktop has also been updated, along with the GNOME, KDE, and KDE Plasma versions that come bundled with Solus.

The Solus 4.5 release continues to impress with the latest version of Budgie, 10.8.2, which now includes dark style preference support and other improvements for a smoother desktop experience. For those who prefer GNOME or KDE, the latest versions, 45.2 and the latest KDE components, are also available. And for the first time, Solus 4.5 introduces an Xfce edition for those looking for an alternative.

The 4.5 release announcement also revealed that they are currently working on migrating to Ikey’s Serpent OS tooling/infrastructure for the highly anticipated Solus 5.0 release.

Don’t miss out on the exceptional updates and features of Solus 4.5. Experience the ultimate Linux distribution and elevate your computing experience now.
